Payment Assistance Options


We understand the tough economic challenges of today's economy and strive to promote programs that offer our customers assistance. Payment assistance is available from federal, state and local sources as well as through NIPSCO programs.

Programs available to eligible NIPSCO customers:

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP provides financial assistance to low-income households to maintain utility services.

NIPSCO Customer Assistance for Residential Energy (CARE) Program
CARE provides customers falling within 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines discounts on gas bills in addition to LIHEAP assistance. 

NIPSCO Hardship Program
Customers just beyond the federal poverty guidelines can apply for up to $200 in gas bill assistance with this NIPSCO program.

Energy Gift Certificates
NIPSCO Gift of Energy gift certificates can be purchased for any NIPSCO account in any amount the gift giver chooses.

Payment Agreements
A NIPSCO credit agreement allows you to make an initial payment within four days of the agreement, then spread the remaining unpaid balance over three months, plus current bills as they are due.

Earned Income Tax Credit
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a special income tax benefit for people who work full or part-time.

Facing Shut-Off?
If you have received a termination notice, call us immediately at 1-800-464-7726. If you are calling for help on the date of termination, we cannot guarantee your service will not be shut off. We offer quick ways to pay to avoid being shut-off.
