Claim your Earned Income Tax Credit
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a special income tax benefit for people who work full or part-time. If you qualify, you'll owe less in federal taxes and could get a partial refund. Even if you don't owe tax, you might be eligible for the EITC, but you must file a federal tax return.
Some taxpayers might be eligible to claim the EITC for the first time, especially if there were changes in the family such as a new child, divorce or a decrease in earnings during the year.
For more information about the EITC and help with filing your return, visit the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Web site
at or call the IRS toll-free at 1-800-829-1040 for the location of a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) center near you.
