Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
Customers falling within 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines may be eligible to receive state and federal utility assistance dollars from the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The program is implemented through the Community Action Agencies with outreach offices in every county. Applications for heating assistance are taken from November 5, 2012 through May 17, 2013. Summer cooling assistance will run from June 3, 2013 through August 30, 2013.
Please note, funding is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Required Information for LIHEAP Application
The following information is usually required when applying for LIHEAP at an agency; however, be sure to contact the agency for the complete list of documentation you'll need to provide:
- Indiana picture ID
- Social Security cards for all household members
- NIPSCO bill
- Proof of residency
- Proof of income
