Requesting Natural Gas or Electric Service

You can apply for electric and/or gas service by calling our 24-hour Customer Service Center at 1-800-4-NIPSCO (or 1-800-464-7726). Once your request has been processed, an engineer will be assigned to you. In order to provide the required specific information, please have the pdf file Load Information Sheet completed for the assigned engineer.

  

Natural Gas Service

pdf document Rate 425  General Service - Large
This Rate is available only to Commercial and Industrial Customers whose daily demands do not exceed
10,000 Dth for any use under the General Rules and Regulations Applicable to Gas Service. A contract is
required for Customers with daily demands at or above 50 Dth. This rate schedule is available to those
Customers located in Zones A, B, C, D and E.

pdf document Rate 428 – Large Transportation and Balancing Service
This is a rate available to Customers presently receiving gas service from the Company, whose gas
requirements during the most recent calendar year average at least 200 Dth per day and to new or existing
Customers presently utilizing an alternate fuel and/or adding additional load who shall certify in writing and
demonstrates that their gas requirements will average at least 200 Dth per day.

pdf document Rate 430 – Large Volume Negotiated Sales Service
This is a Rate Schedule available to Commercial and Industrial Customers in Zones A, B, C, D and E whose annual gas requirements will average at least 200 Dekatherms (Dth) per day, or in the case of a new Customer or a Customer increasing gas requirements, the Customer shall certify that its annual gas requirements will average at least 200 Dth per day.

pdf document Rate 434A  Off-Peak Commercial and Industrial Interruptible Negotiated Service
This Rate is available to Commercial and Industrial Customers for gas service on an interruptible basis when in the judgment of the Company, gas supplies are available for non-firm service, and its service facilities are adequate to render proper service to the Customer without impairing the quality of the Company's service to other customers.

This Rate is available to Customers that receive gas service from the Company under any Transportation Rate Schedule or Rider and who shall enter into a written contract for Storage Service from the Company.

 

Electric Services

Available to General Service Customers for electric service who are located on the Company’s
distribution lines suitable and adequate for supplying the service requested, subject to the conditions
set forth in this Rate Schedule and the Company Rules.

Available to General Service Customers for electric service who are located on the Company’s
electric supply lines suitable and adequate for supplying the service requested.

Available to non-Residential Customers who are located on the Company’s electric supply lines
suitable and adequate for supplying the service requested, subject to the conditions set forth in this
Rate Schedule and the Company Rules.

having capacity sufficient to meet the Customer’s requirements.

Electric Riders

Northern Indiana Public Service Company has developed Tariff Riders that operate in conjunction with other established Rate schedules. All accounting and filed documents are reviewed and approved by the IURC quarterly, semi-annually or annually. They are as follows:

  • Applicable to Customers served on all Rates
  • Mechanism to recover estimated fuel costs
  • Recovers 25% of the cost associated with credits paid to Rider 675 for interruptible load
pdf document Rider 671 – Regional Transmission Organization (RTO)
  • Applicable to Customers served on all Rates
  • Recovers non-fuel MISO costs and revenues above the total included in base rates
  • Credits 50% sharing of certain off-system sale margins
pdf document Rider 672 – Environmental Cost Recovery (ECRM)
  • Applicable to Customers served on all Rates
  • Provides return on approved capital investment in Environmental Projects or Qualified Pollution Control
  • Property (QPCP) at the power plants

  • Applicable to Customers served on all Rates
  • Recovers Operating and Maintenance (O&M) and Depreciation Expenses on the Environmental Projects included in the ERCM Rider

  • Applicable to Customers served on all Rates
  • Only applies to firm load on Rates 632, 633, and 634
  • Recovers capacity purchases or sales
  • Recovers 75% of costs associated with credits paid for interruptible load

  • Applicable to Customers served on all Rates (except Rate 642, Rate 650, Rate 655, and Rate 660)
  • Provides cost recovery of approved Core and Core plus DSM programs
