About the Program

Are you considering installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for your workforce, customers or residents? If so, you may want to take advantage of incentives offered by NIPSCO. The NIPSCO IN-Charge Around Town EV Program is aimed at making it easier and more affordable for businesses and organizations to install public EV-charging infrastructure.

IN-Charge Around Town offers incentives to help with the up-front costs of of Level II and Level III EV charging stations, in addition to installation costs and software subscriptions (click here for more information on charging levels). The chart below shows the benefits available to eligible participants.

The pilot program is available to NIPSCO commercial/industrial electric customers across northern Indiana through January 31, 2015. NIPSCO is working with South Shore Clean Cities to offer this program.

In order to help ensure a variety of charging locations and accelerate the introduction of EV's across northern Indiana, incentives have been earmarked for various categories. The table below represents the amount of incentive money available to each category.

The pilot program is available to NIPSCO commercial/industrial electric customers across northern Indiana

For every unit of electricity used by IN-Charge Around Town charging stations during the pilot program, NIPSCO will buy an equivalent amount of renewable energy certificates (RECs). RECs are the environmental attributes associated with electricity that is generated from renewable sources, such as wind power.

IN-Charge Around Town will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis until the program budget is exhausted or until January 31, 2015, whichever comes first. This program is being offered as part of a Supplemental Environmental Project under the NIPSCO New Source Review NOV settlement.

Do I Qualify?

To enroll you must:

  • Customer must be a NIPSCO commercial or industrial electric customer receiving electric service under any of the following Rates under NIPSCO’s Tariff: 620, 621, 622, 623, 624, 625, 626, 632, 633, 634, 641 or 644.
  • Incentives are for equipment pre-approved and installed after February 19, 2014.
  • Each customer can submit one incentive application including: (1) Up to two Level II EV Charging Stations, or (2) One Level III EV Charging Station.
  • Customer must dedicate two parking spaces towards electric vehicles per charging station installed.
