How to Choose
 If you decide to participate in NIPSCO Choice, follow these three easy steps:
Investigate each qualified supplier by getting information about their services, pricing and contract options. Contact each one to discuss options.
Once you select a qualified supplier, simply contact that company and follow its sign-up procedure. You will need your account number and meter number from your NIPSCO bill.
The qualified supplier that you choose will notify NIPSCO. The supply charge will appear as a separate line item on your NIPSCO bill. NIPSCO will continue to bill you for the gas delivery service.
If you choose to stay with NIPSCO, nothing needs to be done.
NIPSCO automatically handles initial sign-up without any service fees.
Doing Your Homework
Understanding the deregulation of the natural gas industry can be confusing. In its most simplistic form, natural gas deregulation promotes competition; and through that competition, you, the customer, benefit. However, in order to fully benefit from this process you must do your homework.

Make an informed choice by comparing suppliers' prices to the gas supply charge on your NIPSCO bill.
Compare your winter and summer bills - gas prices are generally higher during winter months when demand is at peak.
Ask suppliers how often they adjust their gas price.
NIPSCO adjusts its gas supply charges monthly.
Compare the offers and qualifications of all suppliers before making a decision.
Cancellation policies vary among suppliers.
Initial suppliers choice is handled by NIPSCO at no charge.
Read and make sure you fully understand all agreements before signing anything.
Ask suppliers about billing procedures and options.
Late fees, budget plans and billing options vary among suppliers.
NIPSCO will continue to deliver the gas to you. We will bill you for delivery and provide billing options like Budget Plan and Zapcheck.
