Portage Planned Project a Promenade

Tuesday, July 07, 2015

Called Promenade at Founders Square, the proposed development—which is set to include shops, residences and row homes—is expected to bring more business and more jobs to the area. It was proposed at the Portage Plan Commission meeting in June, and has already garnered local support.

“This project will boost property values, create more new construction and create a new higher standard for housing in Portage,” said Denise Little, a member of the Portage Plan Commission. “The Promenade at Founders Square is ‘spot on’ what we need to see Portage become the leader in the Region.”

According to a press release from Holladay Properties, the company gained its vision for the project from Portage's Comprehensive Plan, as well as from national trends favoring urban designs with old-fashioned downtown aesthetics. It has worked with city planners for two years developing the project, and plans to break ground by late 2015 or early 2016.

Mayor James E. Snyder thanked Holladay properties for helping make a dream come true.

“Portage residents have asked for something special in our downtown, and we believe Holladay has delivered a grand slam.”

Holladay Properties also secured land on Hamstrom Road, which it plans to use to redevelop that portion of the city as well.

According to the press release, Holladay Properties expects this project to build upon its job creation success at Ameriplex at the Port, and to create a high-end housing environment to encourage those who work in Portage to live in Portage as well.

“We are excited to be a part of the vision for the downtown and continue our investment in Portage.” said Tim Healy from Holladay Properties.
