Thursday, December 10, 2015

Kay Nelson, the Northwest Indiana Forum’s director of environmental affairs, was recently honored at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s annual luncheon. The luncheon took place in Indianapolis, where Nelson received the Volunteer of the Year award. Nelson also chairs the environmental committee of the Indiana Chamber.

“This award honors those who diligently work with our organization for the betterment of the business community,” said Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar.

Nelson is a key voice on the Great Lakes Commission, as well a number of other committees that, in her words, “work on improving the environment in harmony with economic development.” Nelson has been with the Forum since 1998 and became full-time environmental affairs director in 2007.

Congratulations and thank you for all your hard work, Kay Nelson!

In Wells County, Economic Development Director Tim Ehlerding has resigned last month after three years in that role. Ehlerding says he has accepted a new position with a private company.

Speaking to the Blufton News-Banner, Ehlerding said it was a tough decision. “I’ve truly enjoyed every minute. It was a great fit, but this was an opportunity for my family that I just could not turn down.” Ehlerding adds that the people and leadership of Wells County are some of the best in the state, and he is proud of what he was able to accomplish by working with them during his time there.
