Valparaiso Selects Fiber Installer

“We’re looking forward to being the first city in our region to offer municipal dark fiber,” saidMayor Jon Costas. According to Costas, this infrastructure will make the city even more competitive at attracting both businesses and jobs.

The plan is for the “backbone” of the network to loop through the city, focused on supporting commercial corridors along Route 49, Route 30 and North Calumet Avenue. According toEconomic Development Director Patrick Lyp, this investment will support hospitals, colleges and high-tech businesses. The project is expected to cost between $2.3 and $2.5 million. A final contract with the company has not been signed yet, but is to be finalized before the March 11 commission meeting.
