Valparaiso Announces New Shell Building

Wednesday, April 06, 2016

“We’ve worked hard to promote a positive business environment and this building provides ready-made opportunities for businesses to join or expand in our community,” said Valparaiso Mayor Jon Costas. According to Patrick Lyp of Valparaiso Economic Development, the lack of available space has been a challenge to business prospects considering locating in the city; “Any available space is quickly purchased.”

The Lakes of Valparaiso is a planned multi-purpose development totaling 150 acres. 55 acres are set aside for multi-family residences, 90 acres are for a business/corporate park, and the remaining 5 acres are meant for retail space.

The city of Valparaiso, the Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission and the Valparaiso Economic Development Corporation signed the agreement with Weiss Entities LLC and Garmong Construction Services Inc. According to the agreement, Garmong will purchase 8 acres and be responsible for all aspects of the project, with the Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission reimbursing Garmong for the costs until the project is sold or leased. The project is intended to be substantially complete by the end of 2016.
