NB Coatings Groundbreaking in Hobart

Monday, August 01, 2016

Recently in Lake County, the Illinois-based manufacturing company NB Coatings broke ground on a new facility in Northwest Indiana.

The company, which produces automotive coatings for plastics, will pay above-average wages for the county and expects to start moving operations there by January 2017.

“The financial stability of the state of Indiana brought us here,” said NB Coatings Manufacturing Vice President Jack Wickham. “The welcoming Hobart gave us and the way they wanted us to locate here was great.” Wickham added that the new location is ideal for the company, which currently employs 395 associates across North America, in part due to its proximity to Interstate 94 as well as Interstate 65.

Attending the event were representatives from the City of Hobart, NIPSCO, the Lake County Indiana Economic Alliance and the Northwest Indiana Forum, as well as many others.

“It shows another investment in what Hobart has to offer, and what the Region has to offer,” said Hobart Mayor Brian Snedecor. “NB Coatings sees not only an effective transportation location; they see a very attractive work force and an attractive tax base.”

The new facility will function as a warehouse and distribution facility, both for finished products and for raw materials.
