North Central Group Updating Regional Strategy

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

Thanks to funding from the national Stronger Economies Together (SET) program, the North Central Indiana Regional Planning Council (NCIRPC) will be updating the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy in 2017.

The six-county council has raised nearly $2 million in state and federal funding since its creation in 2014. Last year, it was one of only seven groups to be awarded SET funding in the nation. The goal is to use those funds to gather and then combine public, business and economic leader input into a regional strategy that will promote job growth as well as revenue growth. The organization has already held two public forums towards this goal.

The six counties of the NCIRPC are Cass, Clinton, Fulton, Howard, Miami and Tipton. The SET program began in 2010 and has reached 94 regions in 32 states.
