7 Recent Developments at Notre Dame’s Innovation Park

There’s been a lot happening around the University of Notre Dame in South Bend lately, specifically around their business incubator Innovation Park. We’ve gathered seven facts and news highlights worth being aware of around this entrepreneurial epicenter:

  1. More than 30 companies capitalized on the resources made available by the park and the university in 2016, working on bringing new research and innovations to market
  2. 2016 saw the creation of the IDEA Center (Innovation, Discovery and Enterprise Acceleration) in the park. This new entity provides technical services and expertise on technology translation and business formation and commercialization
  3. Construction began on Quinn Hall in October. Once completed, this facility will have space for 30 startup companies
  4. The Indiana Bioscienes Research Institute (IBRI) opened its first satellite office there in March as a first step in spreading to the “four corners of the state,” as a way to tap into more resources and enhance collaborative efforts
  5. The park is home to more than 30 companies, employing more than 60 Notre Dame students as interns
  6. Notre Dame opened a facility in Palo Alto, CA in February. This new base of operations in California will support coursework and collaboration for students to connect with high-tech firms already located in Silicon Valley
  7. The City of South Bend, Notre Dame and St. Joe Valley Metronet recently completed a test of next-generation wireless technology for the area. The hope is that the SBXG – Platform for Advanced Wireless Research initiative will position the area, the university and its businesses as global leaders in wireless research
