In La Porte the city’s mayor, Blair Milo, has been tapped by the governor and is serving in a newly-created cabinet-level position: secretary of career connections and talent. Milo has stepped down from her mayoral position to take on this new role. The governor reports this new position will work with businesses, trade associations, colleges and universities and public officials to identify employment needs and help workers take advantage of training opportunities to fill the estimated one million job openings Indiana is expected to see over the next decade.
