In South Bend, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and other officials gathered to break ground on the Howard Park Recreational Center. This new construction is part of the recently announced My SB Parks & Trails initiative and represents a $12 million investment.

The Recreation Center will include a multi-purpose building, a water play and ice skating area and a new playground in the city’s oldest park.

“The new Howard Park will help turn our attention toward one of our city’s greatest assets: our river,” said Buttigieg according to a press release ahead of the event. “As one of the central projects in the My SB Parks and Trails initiative, this revitalized space will be a center of community life upon its completion.”

The project is expected to be completed early in 2019. More information about this and other projects is available at: http://sbvpa.org/mysbparksandtrails/projects/howard-park/.
