On Second Thought: 2nd Annual IDEA Week Announced

Thursday, December 20, 2018

After last year’s success with over 18,000 attendees, IDEA Week will return in 2019 and is already announcing some big names for both keynote speeches and concerts.

The lead organization for the event is Notre Dame’s IDEA Center. According to the event website, IDEA Week is a gathering of and for “entrepreneurs, founders, developers, makers, inventors, designers and investors.” Events will be much more than just lectures; IDEA Week is both a summit and a festival, with concerts, performances, TEDx talks and startup competitions with cash prizes. These events are held in various locations and are open to the public.

“The purpose of Idea Week is to accelerate and celebrate the transformation of this region into a technology hub akin to places like Austin, Texas; Provo, Utah; Boulder, Colorado; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Gainesville, Florida,” reported Bryan Ritchie, Notre Dame’s vice president and associate provost for innovation.

Speakers and performers announced for IDEA Week 2019 so far include celebrity scientist Bill Nye and Wired magazine co-founder Kevin Kelly. Country music star Tim McGraw has also been announced to perform during the week.

IDEA Week 2019 is scheduled for April 8th through 13th. You can find more information and subscribe for updates at the event website here:
