NIPSCO is currently upgrading and expanding their Model Electrical
Substation in Goshen at the corner of Berkey Avenue and South Greene Street as part of their ongoing plan to modernize the energy infrastructure across northern Indiana.
Two road closures are expected as crews replace five aging, wooden utility poles and electrical wire near the substation as part of the upgrade.
Wednesday, January 23 and Thursday, January 24 a portion of Berkey Avenue will be closed to the east of South Greene Road. The closure is expected to last two days from 6 a.m. - 4 p.m. (EST).
Monday, January 28 through Thursday, January, 31 a portion of South Greene Road will be periodically closed to the south of Berkey Avenue.
The South Greene Road closure schedule is as follows: Monday, January 28 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (EST); Tuesday, January 29 from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. (EST); Wednesday, January 30 from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. (EST) and Thursday, January 31 from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. (EST).
Signs and detour routes will be posted ahead of time. Flaggers will be on site directing traffic during construction hours. NIPSCO will also continue to work with the City of Goshen officials to minimize impact to customers in this area.
Customers in the immediate area are not expected to experience any interruption to their electric service.
Please exercise caution as you travel near any construction zone to ensure personal safety and the safety of construction crews working on this project.
