According to Senate Enrolled Act 340, eligible NIPSCO electric customers* can opt out of their participation in NIPSCO's Energy Efficiency Programs.
According to NIPSCO's tariff, the deadline for opt-out applications is May 15th of each year. Opt-out forms must be received by May 15th of the current year, for an effective date of January 1st, the following year. A Qualifying Customer may opt back in to participate in the Company’s Energy Efficiency Program and Rider 883 at any point during the year by providing notice. The opt-in will be effective the next billing cycle following the notice. Requests to opt in received less than five (5) business days prior to the next billing cycle will be effective one (1) month later.
*Eligibility: Must have load measured with a demand meter at a single site with at least one meter constituting more than 1,000 kilowatts/one megawatt of electric capacity from NIPSCO for any billing period within the previous 12 months.
