Retro-Commissioning (RCx) Incentive Program

The NIPSCO Retro-Commissioning (RCx) Incentive Program has been designed to help NIPSCO qualifying large commercial, industrial, non-profit, governmental and institutional customers determine the energy performance of their facilities and identify energy savings opportunities by optimizing their existing systems. RCx projects will holistically examine energy consuming systems for cost-effective savings opportunities. The RCx process will identify operational inefficiencies that can be removed or reduced to yield energy savings.

Incentives will be calculated based on the estimated reduction in kilowatt hours (kWh) and/or therms from implementation of the energy efficiency project. Incentives will be paid out at $0.09/kWh reduced and $0.80/therm reduced.

NIPSCO’s commercial, industrial and non-profit energy efficiency programs are administered by Lockheed Martin Energy, a third-party implementation specialist that helps businesses save energy.

What Type of Projects Qualify?

RCx incentives are designed to encourage the implementation of energy efficient measures that optimize components within existing systems. To qualify for an RCx incentive the simple payback for the project, based on all measures, must be less than 12 months. The project may contain some measures with a payback greater than or equal to 12 months which will be treated as Custom measures as described in the Custom Incentive Program. All projects must be completed by November 9, 2018 in order to be eligible for incentive.

Who Qualifies?

Eligible NIPSCO customers include those currently billed under NIPSCO electric rates 720, 721, 722, 723, 724, 725, 726, 732, 733, 734, 741 or 744 and natural gas rates 421, 425 and 451 (NIPSCO’s DependaBill rate).
