Each year, organizations throughout northern Indiana celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day by kicking off projects in support of our natural environment.
Working to preserve and enhance our environment is a priority for NIPSCO. In partnership and support of environmental entities in Indiana, we work to assist with the restoration and preservation of thousands of acres of wetlands, plants, and animals. In addition, NIPSCO is proud to be recognized as a Tree Line USA Utility by the Arbor Day Foundation. Tree Line USA Utilities practice quality tree care, annual worker training, tree planting and public education programs and participate in tree-based energy conservation programs.

CommuniTree Planting
April 22, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. CST
Cool Spring Elementary, Michigan City
NIPSCO Forestry will plant eight trees with students, as well as provide education on trees and how NIPSCO manages these resources. The trees are provided through Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) in partnership with the U.S. Forestry Service. To learn more, visit nirpc.org/communitree.

Science Central, Fort Wayne
NIPSCO and the NiSource Charitable Foundation are the presenting sponsors of this environment-focused event at Science Central Fort Wayne. Speakers will provide insight into the improvement of local water quality. Science on a Sphere demonstrations will explore the difference between weather and climate and how the latter is changing on Earth. Little River Wetlands Earth Day

NIPSCO is proud to sponsor Fort Wayne’s largest Earth Day celebration, with opportunities to learn about wetlands, wildlife, ecological restoration and pollinators. Attendees can volunteer to plant pollinator-friendly native plants in the marsh. To learn more, visit lrwp.org/events.

Our Lady of Grace School, Highland
NIPSCO’s Forestry team will plant a Norway Spruce tree with students and representatives from Indiana state government in attendance.
Goshen Arbor Day Celebration
April 29, 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. EST
City of Goshen County Courthouse Lawn
This event includes educational booths, tree giveaways, vendors and food trucks. NIPSCO trucks will be available for the Touch-a-Truck event, and the NIPSCO Forestry team will plant a tulip tree at this event.
Earth Day Annual Tree Planting Ceremony and Guided Walk
April 29, 5:30 - 7 p.m. CST
Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest, Valparaiso
A NIPSCO Forestry expert will be at the event to discuss how visitors can evaluate the right tree for their property, and the right place to plant it. The event also features a guided walk with local plant life experts. To learn more, visit pnw.edu/event/arbor-day-evening-walk.
