Beginning Tuesday, May 30, NIPSCO will be stringing electrical wire over the Hohman Avenue Bridge in Hammond, Ind. For crews to safely perform this work, the Hohman Avenue Bridge will be closed. The closure is expected to start Tuesday at 7 a.m. and last until 4 p.m. each day through Friday, June 2. Schedules are weather dependent.
Pedestrian walkways on or near the bridge will also be closed to ensure the safety of the community. Please look for signage and detour routes posted near pedestrian walkways.
Advanced road closure signs and detour routes for drivers will be posted. The detour routes can be accessed on Douglas Street, Calumet Avenue, and Michigan Street.
NIPSCO will be working with its approved contractor ARC American to perform this work. There are no anticipated electrical service interruptions as a result of this planned project.
