The Cares Electric Summer Cooling Program provides electric customers with the option to contribute $0.25 per meter per month to a NIPSCO-sponsored program. The program provides a discount on usage from June to September to low-income customers across
NIPSCO’s service area.
A low-income customer is defined as an electric customer that is approved for the Federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Your participation is voluntary, and you can opt in or withdraw
from the program at any time. Any changes to your participation will take effect the next billing cycle once your request to opt in or out of the program has been submitted.

How do I terminate this agreement?
Customers may unenroll from the program at any time by selecting "Cancel Enrollment" on the Cares Electric Summer Cooling program page. Changes will be effective as of the start of the next billing cycle.

What length of agreement/contract is required?
There is no special contract. Customers may terminate their participation at any time. The termination will take effect as of the next billing cycle.

Why was I removed if I did not elect to be removed from the program?
A customer’s bill delinquent 60 days or greater will automatically be removed from the program. Once the account returns to a non-delinquent status the customer is eligible to re-enroll into the program via https://myaccount.nipsco.com/SummerCooling or by calling 1-800-4NIPSCO (1-800-464-7726).
