Residential Midstream Channel

Terms and Conditions

1. Project Eligibility: Offer is valid for Northern Indiana Public Service Company, LLC (NIPSCO) residential natural gas customers with active service (limited to residential rates 311, 315 and 351 or subsequent rates), and/or residential electric customers with active service (limited to residential rate 511 or a subsequent rate), depending on the rebate being requested.  Rebates under the NIPSCO Midstream Channel are available to Distributors for qualifying equipment installed in qualifying residential existing and new properties. The Midstream Program is a sub-program of the Home Rebates Program and is intended to incentivize equipment at the point of purchase by the Contractor so those savings can be passed down to the customer during home install without the customer needing to submit a rebate application. TRC, Inc. is NIPSCO’s third-party implementation specialist that administers NIPSCO’s Residential Energy Efficiency Programs.

2. Equipment Eligibility: For a current list of qualifying equipment call TRC at 1-800-721-7385. Resale/used/refurbished/certified new equipment, new parts installed in existing equipment, or equipment that is leased, rebuilt, rented, received from insurance claims, received from a warranty, funded by a third-party organization (at a reduced or no cost to the Distributor/property owner) or won as a prize do not qualify. Equipment must be installed conforming to all applicable (e.g., building, gas, electrical, plumbing, etc.)  local, state, and federal codes, standards, ordinances and regulations, and manufacturer’s specifications. Equipment must be installed by the Contractor listed on the Midstream Application submitted by the participating Distributor.  Equipment purchased through NIPSCO’s Online Marketplace, Retail Products or Midstream Channel are not eligible for a NIPSCO Energy Efficiency Rebate.

3. Distributor Discount: The Distributor will offer these equipment discounts at point of sale to the Contractor. The Distributor invoice must clearly itemize the amount of the discount provided at the point of sale to the Contractor. The discount can be listed in the total summary section of the invoice. The Distributor may hold back up to a $50.00 processing fee per application from the total NIPSCO incentive.  The Distributor agrees that the Program is intended to provide incentives on qualifying equipment sold to Contractors. Incentives delivered by the Distributor for equipment sold to parties including commercial and non-NIPSCO Customers or Contractors using/installing equipment not in accordance with the Program or this application, will not be reimbursed by TRC or NIPSCO. The Distributor must notify the Contractor at the time of sale that equipment pricing was subsidized by Program incentives and Distributor must display a line item on the Contractor invoice specifically stating that funds were provided by NIPSCO. The Distributor must notify the Contractor at the time of sale that; (i) the Contractor is required to pass the same discount, in full, down to the NIPSCO Residential account holder;(ii) the discount from the Contractor to the customer must be clearly stated on the customer invoice.  As part of quality assurance, end customers may be contacted to verify that the equipment was installed and that the proper discount was received. Contractors that do not fulfill this obligation will be subject to removal from the Program. Distributors are not responsible for the Contractor’s obligation to inform the customer of the incentive. By the Contractor providing the customer account information, this is deemed as acknowledgement that communication took place and that the customer is aware of the NIPSCO incentive and the customer was provided the total NIPSCO incentive received at time of purchase of the equipment from the Distributor.  Under the Program, the Distributor will not be eligible to receive a rebate for discounts provided to an organization that is funding equipment and/or materials in a customer’s home (gift or donation to the customer).

4. Application Eligibility: Offer is valid for the installation of equipment and related materials (collectively, “equipment”) completed January 1, 2025, to November 30, 2025. Applications must be completed in full, show the itemized point of sale discount, and be accompanied by any required equipment information. Applications must be submitted by the Distributor within 90 days of equipment invoice to Contractor; provided that applications for installations completed after January 1, 2025, must be submitted no later than November 30, 2025, to be considered eligible for 2025 rebates. Applications submitted after November 30, 2025, will begin processing in January 2026 dependent on Program availability, funding, and eligibility. Funds are limited and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. The Program is subject to change and may end without prior notice.

5. Rebate Payment to Distributor: NIPSCO rebate may not exceed the total purchase price of the equipment. The only costs eligible for rebates is equipment. Rebates will only be paid to participating NIPSCO Distributors. NIPSCO will only pay one rebate for each piece of qualifying equipment installed. Distributor and or manufacturer should allow up to eight (8) weeks after a properly completed application is received by the Program to receive the rebate. Rebate payments may be delayed during times of high Program participation. Incomplete applications shall not be processed. Failure to complete the rebate application in full and provide the required supporting documentation may delay the payment process or result in the application being denied. The Distributor is responsible for submitting a rebate application. Failure to timely submit a rebate application can result in denial of rebate payment. Submission of an application does not guarantee payment of a rebate.

6. Verification: NIPSCO reserves the right to verify sales receipts and/or installations of equipment and services before issuing rebates. All equipment installations are subject to verification by the Program to ensure the equipment is installed and operating. An inspection may be conducted to verify installations; such inspections are not safety or code compliance inspections. Distributor will advise customers or require Contractors to advise customers that to participate in the Program they must agree to any inspection requested by NIPSCO as it pertains to the Program.

7. Program Modifications: NIPSCO reserves the right to alter or discontinue rebate offers at any time without notice.

8. Natural Gas Equipment Installations: The Distributor will advise Contractors to verify with NIPSCO that the customer’s natural gas pressure is adequate for any gas-using equipment being installed.

9. Disclaimer: NIPSCO does not guarantee that equipment purchased and installed, or services provided through this Program will result in energy and/or cost savings. NIPSCO reserves the right to deny or limit any rebate request. In addition, no warranties on equipment or service installations are provided by NIPSCO, nor does the Program warrant, guarantee or endorse the services provided by any specific Contractor or Distributor participating in the Program. NIPSCO and its Program Administrator, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies, officers, directors, agents and employees disclaim any and all liability, loss or damages, and make no guarantees related to: participation in the Program, including use or installation of the equipment; loss or delay of rebate check(s) ; and any taxes that may be imposed as a result of participation in the Program.

10. Indemnification: By submitting an application and participating in the Program, the applicant, to the extent allowed by law, releases and waives any and all claims against NIPSCO and the Program Administrator, and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies, directors, officers, agents and employees. Signatory(ies) and applicant(s) shall indemnify NIPSCO and, the Program Administrator, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies, officers, directors, agents and employees against any and all losses, claims, damages, expense, fees, costs and liability arising from any sales activity, design, consulting, product, system, appliance, equipment or installation  or services  in connection with the Program.

11. Representation: Making false statements on any NIPSCO rebate application will be prosecuted to the fullest extent allowable under the law. Any and all funds determined, in NIPSCO’s sole discretion, to have been acquired on the basis of fraudulent or misrepresented information must be returned to the Program. NIPSCO may refuse payment and participation if the applicant(s)/Distributor(s), Contractor(s) or customer(s) violate Program rules or procedures.

12. Taxes:  The recipient, not NIPSCO, is responsible for any taxes that may be imposed as a result of the receipt of a discount or a rebate.

13. Program Administrator: NIPSCO’s Residential Energy Efficiency Programs are administered by TRC, a third-party implementation specialist that helps homes and businesses save energy.
