Thank you for your response.
If a NIPSCO charger is not working properly, what should I do?
If you arrive at an EV charging station and one of the dispensers is not working properly, please call the number shown at the charging station. For the NIPSCO EV charging stations, please call 877-780-8115.
Thank you for your response.
Can two vehicles use the same dispenser simultaneously and charge?
It depends. If the dispenser is set up for multiple cars to charge simultaneously, it will split the amount to each car, doubling the time to charge. However, if it is not, the two vehicles will share power from the charging station, which increases the time required to reach full charge. As one vehicle reaches full charge, the second dispenser will resume charging at full power.
Thank you for your response.
What is the cost to charge at a NIPSCO charging station?
NIPSCO’s current tariff rates for charge per kWh can be found at https://www.nipsco.com/our-company/about-us/regulatory-information/electric-rates under Rate 549.
Once a charging session is complete, drivers are allowed a 10-minute grace period to unplug and leave the charging station. After this a $1/min idling fee is enforced to encourage drivers to move their charged vehicle quickly, allowing other drivers to utilize the charging station.
Thank you for your response.
How can I pay for charging at the NIPSCO EV Charging locations?
You can use the NIPSCO PlugEV app for payment on your smartphone. Simply scan the QR code located on the front of the EV Charger with your smart phone and easily pay for your charging session from the mobile app. To initiate a charge over the phone instead, call 1 (877) 780-8115 and provide your payment information. Additional payment options are also available on the charging stations.
Thank you for your response.
Is there a mobile app for payment when using NIPSCO chargers?
NIPSCO’s charging stations are linked to the NIPSCO PlugEV mobile app for payment and more. You can download the app on the App Store or Google Play, or you scan the QR code displayed at each station. Additional payment options are also available on the charging stations. Charging payments cannot be made through the NIPSCO mobile app.
Thank you for your response.
Do I need a certain type of plug or connector to charge my car at a NIPSCO fast-charging station?
Yes, you will need a specific type of plug or connector to charge your electric vehicle (EV) at NIPSCO fast-charging stations. Our fast-charging stations typically utilize connectors compatible with the CCS (Combined Charging System) and some also with the NACS (North American Charging Standard).
If you have an adaptor or your EV is equipped with a CCS-compatible port or NACS-compatible, you can easily charge it at our fast-charging stations. Always refer to your owner’s manual for information on how to properly charge your vehicle.
Thank you for your response.
How fast can a NIPSCO fast-charging station charge my vehicle?
An estimated charging time will be displayed at the charging station when you plug in your vehicle. NIPSCO fast-charging stations operate at a 150-kilowatt (kW) capacity rating, which can generally provide 80-100 miles of driving range in approximately 20-25 minutes. The charging speed of an EV fast-charging station varies by vehicle, battery capacity, and the amount of your remaining battery charge.
