The virtual public meeting is an opportunity for the public to learn more about NIPSCO’s recommendation of the groundwater remedy at its Michigan City Generating Station.
The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. (CDT) and is open for questions after the presentation.
NIPSCO will have representatives available to answer questions about its assessment of EPA-compliant corrective measures and remedial recommendations.

NIPSCO is presenting an update to the Assessment of Corrective Measures (ACM) activities performed at their Michigan City Generating Station as part of their compliance to the Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Rule. In addition, NIPSCO is providing its recommendation for the groundwater Selection of Remedy (SOR), as required by the same Rule. These processes require presentation through a public meeting followed by a public comment period prior to submitting their final SOR report to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM).

NIPSCO will continue to work with IDEM to ensure the closure plans comply with all state and federal requirements, and coordinate with local officials to minimize disruption from work activity throughout the duration of the project.
