On April 17, 2015, the EPA released a final rule regulating Coal Combustion Residuals (CCRs) under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Subtitle D. The Rule requires groundwater monitoring, reporting, record keeping, and posting related information to the Internet. The rule also establishes requirements related to CCR management, impoundments, landfills and storage. This webpage and the posted documents have been developed to comply with the CCR rule.

UPDATE: NIPSCO to close coal ash ponds in Michigan City

NIPSCO plans to close its five on-site coal ash ponds at the Michigan City Generating Station, which will be followed by work at its Bailly Generating Station and R.M. Schahfer Generating Station in the near future. Learn more about the company’s plans.
