Ron Talbot serves as the Senior Vice President of Electric Operations responsible for leading the company’s power delivery, electric generation, electric safety, and continuous improvement functions. Ron joined NIPSCO in April 2020.

Ron brings more than 30 years of experience of strategic problem solving and process improvement in the utility industry. He has held a number of senior officer roles spanning operations, safety, IT and supply chain as well as consulting. Ron served as the senior vice president and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of PNM Resources where he was responsible all vertically integrated utility operation for Public Service New Mexico and he was also responsible for overseeing Texas New Mexico Power. Ron was appointed COO of Indianapolis Power and Light (IPL) in June, 2011. Prior to serving as COO, Ron served as Senior Vice President Power Supply beginning in March, 2007, and was responsible for IPL’s generating stations, fuel procurement, generation dispatch, and wholesale trading. Ron joined IPL as Senior Vice President of Customer Operations in August 2003. Previously, he was Vice President of Chicago Region Operations for Commonwealth Edison Company in Chicago from December 1999 to April 2002. Prior to that, he worked for approximately 15 years in various capacities for Consolidated Edison in New York, including General Manager of Staten Island Electric Operations and later General Manager of Manhattan Electric Operations.

Ron has baccalaureate degrees in economics from SUNY Oneonta, New York and in electrical engineering from Clarkson University, as well as a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Over the course of his career, Ron has served on numerous industry and not for profit boards of directors.

Ron is based at NIPSCO’s headquarters in Merrillville, Indiana.
